Correlation between critical thinking disposition and mental self-supporting ability among nursing

undergraduates: A cross-sectional descriptive study

Yang Luo

Central South University, China

T

his study explored the relationship between nursing students’ critical thinking disposition and their mental self-supporting

ability, in order to obtain a profile and determine the psychological predictors of critical thinking. A cross-sectional descriptive

study was conducted using convenience sampling from four nursing schools. Findings indicate that there was a positive correlation

between these two variables and students’ self-decision, self-cognition, self-confidence, and self-responsibility played a significant

role in their critical thinking disposition. Nursing educators should make an effort to improve the students’ critical thinking ability

in these four aspects.
