Abstract
Wastewater generation is nowadays a major challenge at global scale. Therefore, to mitigate this problem an effective management action plan is important. In search of a better strategy aiding to combat with this problem, contaminated wastewater purification and recycling in a unique way is obvious. In this context, municipal sewage treatment process in single pond at East Calcutta Wetland is a unique method and a sustainable practice since last century. However the underlying mechanism is not yet known. In this study we observed that the purification of sewage is obtained within 10 days which is considered to be a rapid process. The method of treatment and the interactions among various factors lead to cause this effective result. Therefore, in depth understanding about this mechanism of purification would be a promising method to apply in other area with similar climatic condition
