Abstract
The present work is derived out of the work on energy efficient lighting systems relying sustainable energy, like solar energy and wind energy. A 40 watt florescent tube light glows with AA size NiCad battery. During the day time the NiCad battery is charged with a small solar panel. Lighting is the basic amenity for living, there are 10 million people who don?t have electricity at all, they have no option to use kerosene lamps. The present paper comes out with energy efficient lighting system. An electronic control gear is developed. 1.2 volts dc is converted to ac and 200 volts ac is developed, which is fed to the fluorescent lamp, the tube glows instantly without any flickering. The brightness is approximately 400 lumens
