Occupational disease: A case study in Brazilian public workers

Abstract
This study aims to discuss the move away to health treatment of the Santa Catarina public servant, a state located in south Brazil. We identified the predominance of mental disruptions (45877) and musculoskeletal disorders (28464) in the period 2007 to 2014, totalizing 74341 cases. According to search on public worker health patient records available at Public Servant Health Board/Secretary of State for Administration (DSAS/SEA), specially the database from Statistics Bulletin of the Worker Health Benefits (Boletim EstatÃ?Âstico de BenefÃ?Âcios de SaÃ?ºde do Servidor). The records showed that the age and the length of service of public servants are important factors to sick leave. In addition, the women suffer illnesses more than men do. We know that the causes for sick leave are diverse, such as genetic, feeding, education, culture, working conditions. One can highlight that the deterioration of physical and social working conditions leads to the suffering, occupational disease, partial or permanent disability (retirement).Biography
