Modern tools to understand the molecular epidemiology of infectious diseases

2nd International Conference on Epidemiology & Evolutionary Genetics

Ming Zhang

Workshops: Epidemiol

DOI: 10.4172/2161-1165.S1.007

Abstract
M olecular epidemiology evolves out of the integration of epidemiology and molecular biology. It extends traditional epidemiology studies by incorporating genetic and molecular measures as biomarkers of exposure, risk, and prognosis. This workshop introduces the concepts, principles, and use of genetic methods in modern epidemiologic research.
Biography
Ming Zhang received her PhD (Summa Cum Laude) from University of Gottingen, Germany. She has over a decade?s experience in infectious diseases, in particular in HIV molecular epidemiology and molecular evolution. She is an Assistant Professor of Epidemiology at University of Georgia, USA, and affiliated with Faculty of Infectious Diseases, Institute of Bioinformatics, and Biomedical and Health Sciences Institute at University of Georgia.
