Abstract
In todays times of turbulence of rapid growth, Green engineering and sustainable development are even more relevant for industrial biotechnology. Green engineering has become the El Dorado of modern times. Green engineering is the development that meets the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. The green engineering and bioprocess development are inseparable. Undoubtedly, exponential growth of industrial prosperity resulted in the triumphant rise in living standards of people but at the risk of life-sustaining role of the biosphere from open-ended consumption of natural resources. Hence, there is an urgent need to address the technological biotechnology challenges of the various bioprocesses to maintain the dynamic sustainability of the Universe. Towards that end, an attempt is being made to look at the key issues and suggest green technologies for sustainable society. The knowledge to be integrated into the traditional products has to emerge from modern biotechnology with green engineering concept. Such fusion will lead to better definition of existing products, improved understanding of the mechanism of their action, modified compositions at molecular level and better understanding of interactions amongst various molecules. If any one looks at the scientific knowledge domain, one can find that borderless science has already arrived. Everyone can see that discrete boundaries no longer exist between various natural sciences such as physics, chemistry, biology, mathematics, etc. The author will be presenting how traditional processes can be replaced with green engineering approach for redefining biotechnological industry for sustainable society.
