Effects of offshore oil drilling & production mainly results from wastes such as petroleum hydrocarbons, salt, heavy metals,
production chemicals, drilling fluids, produced water, nuclear radiation, air pollutant & acoustic impacts. The planning steps for
environmental protection in offshore oil industry such as environmental audits, waste management plans & actions, certification
of disposal process, contingency plans & employee training will be briefly discussed. Environmental protection measures in
offshore oil drilling & production industry such as planning & phasing, site visit, environmental preparedness, restoration, well
abandonment & completion, drilling operations & management requirements will be presented.
Biography
Ossama Aboul Dahab got his Ph.D. in Marine Chemistry in 1985, joint supervision between Alexandria University - Egypt and Liverpool University
- UK. He was graduated from Oceanography Department, Alexandria University in 1975 and since that time he is still working in the department
of oceanography, Alexandria University till now. He visited as a scientific scholar more than 15 different countries. He attended more than 40
international conferences & meetings about oceanography in the area of marine chemistry & pollution. He published 3 books & more than 40 papers
in open literature. He supervised & shared execution of more than 20 projects & has organized & conducted more than 100 training courses in the
field of pollution prevention especially with regard to offshore oil & gas industry.
