Effects of offshore oil drilling & production mainly results from wastes such as petroleum hydrocarbons, salt, heavy metals, production chemicals, drilling fluids, produced water, nuclear radiation, air pollutant & acoustic impacts. The planning steps for environmental protection in offshore oil industry such as environmental audits, waste management plans & actions, certification of disposal process, contingency plans & employee training will be briefly discussed. Environmental protection measures in offshore oil drilling & production industry such as planning & phasing, site visit, environmental preparedness, restoration, well abandonment & completion, drilling operations & management requirements will be presented.
