Abstract
Objectives: Assess the awareness and participation of patients and health workers to health promoting hospital activities in E hospital. Identify area for further improvement and make recommendations. Methodology: A cross- sectional survey design was used including 370 in-patients who were treated at the 16 different departments and 147 doctors and nurses in the E hospital 2013. The questionnaires were developed based partly on the WHO guideline. The data was analysed using SPSS16.0, used frequencies variables and chi-squared to describe demographic characteristics of participants and find statistical significant difference. Results: These activities have been added to the regular tasks, 85% of medical staffs had trained for patients in health education sessions. There were 50% of medical staffs satisfied with the organization of health promotion for the patients, 18,9 % satisfied with medical staff training course. Health education for the patients is the main stream in Health promotion. More than 81,6% of patients were advised on the way to use drugs and most of them (81%) understood how to use the drugs at home. There were 32% of patients can do right on the practical care by themselves at their home. After being advised 28.9 % of patients give up smoking, the statistical evidence was significant. Conclusions: Health Promotion became the important responsibility of nursing care. Majority of patients have participated and received health promotion information and positive impact have been achieved. There are still much material facilities need for enhancement in maintaining health promoting model. Furthermore, the patients should be improved the capacity to extend their scope of patient care particularly in the area of chronic disease management. Do Thi Ngoc is working as chief of nursing department at E Hospital, Vietnam Minister of Health, Vietnam. In the last 4 years she has attended training at Health Promoting Hospital, Khoo Tec Puat Hospital, Singapore, 2011. She has achieved certificate from An Innovative Advanced course in Medical Education and Research for Vietnam, 2017. University of Sydney, Medical technical support of cardiovascular diseases in Viet Nam, Okayama University Hospital, Japan, 2014. Her recent achievement is Assessment of knowledge, attitude, practice of clinical nursing in patient care at E Hospital , 2013.
