    Earned MD degree in 1978 from Carol Davila School of Medicine, Bucharest, Romania. Started the medical career in 1978 in the Clinical Laboratory at the Municipal Hospital, Bucharest. 1985, did the first postdoctoral training in Immunology and Immunochemistry Department, University of Manitoba, Winnipeg, Canada. 1991 came to New York City at Mount Sinai School of Medicine for 4 years in a second postdoctoral training in cellular and molecular immunology in the Department of Microbiology. 1995, promoted to the rank of Assistant Professor, and in 1998 to the rank of Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, New York. 2004, joined the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD. as Associate Professor of Medicine, Division of Immunology, and in 2008 has been promoted to the rank of Professor with tenure where currently performs basic and clinical research projects.     Dr. Kevin Coombs obtained his BA in Biology and English from the State University of New York at Geneseo, and his PhD in Microbiology from the University of Texas at Austin, in 1986. After post-doctoral work at Harvard Medical School, he joined the faculty at the University of Manitoba in 1990. He is currently a Professor of Medical Microbiology, is a Research Scientist with the Manitoba Institute of Child Health, and is Assistant Dean of Research in the Faculty of Medicine.    BIOGRAPHY

    Joel K Weltman attended the Bronx HS of Science (1946-1950), New York University (BA, 1954), State University of NY-Downstate Medical Center (MD, 1958) and the University of Colorado (PhD, Microbiology/Immunology, 1963), with Post-Doctoral Fellowships at the Weizmann Institute of Science and at Rockefeller University. He served a Rotating Internship at Indiana University Medical Center and is certified by American Board of Allergy and Immunology with a Special Qualification in Diagnostic Laboratory Immunology. He practiced clinical allergy/immunology from 1979 to 2004 and is Past-President both of the New England and of the Rhode Island Societies of Allergy. Since 1966 he has been at Brown University where he is Clinical Professor Emeritus of Medicine at the Alpert/Brown University School of Medicine. He has published 58 peer reviewed scientific articles and holds six patents from the USPTO and one foreign patent (Belgium).     Pascal M. Dohmen is staff surgeon at the Heart Centre Leipzig and university Professor at the University of Leipzig since 2010. He achieved his M.D. degree from the Catholic University Louvain in 1997. He was co-worker at the CEHA as well as EHB. In 1994 he performed some additional training at the Texas Heart Institute. In 2006 received Venia legend for cardiac surgery and head of SSI prevention and treatment. He received in 2004 the C. Walton Lillehei Young Investigator Award 2004 and contributed to develop several experimental research department in the world (Brasil, China, Germany, Italy). He was associated director at the department of cardiovascular surgery and director of the TE research at the Charite hospital, Medical University Berlin. Pascal M.     Dr. Zhi-Ming Zheng received his medical and virological training in China and was a Yale-China exchange scholar at Yale University. Dr. Zheng served as an associate professor, chief of the Clinical Virology Laboratory, and deputy as well as acting director of the Virus Research Institute at Hubei Medical University (now Wuhan University School of Medicine), China. He received his Ph.D. from the University of South Florida School of Medicine. He was an IRTA fellow and later a senior staff in the Laboratory of Tumor Virus Biology before he heads his section in the HIV and AIDS Malignancy Branch of NCI. His research interests center on the RNA processing and tumorigenesis of tumor viruses including papillomaviruses and Kaposi\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus. He was the Chief organizer of the 24th International Papillomavirus Conference and Clinical Workshop, Beijing, China, Nov. 3-9, 2007.     George Perry is dean of the College of Sciences and professor of biology at The University of Texas at San Antonio. Perry is recognized in the field of Alzheimer\\\\\\\'s disease research particularly for his work on oxidative stress. Perry received his bachelor\\\\\\\'s of arts degree in zoology with high honors from University of California, Santa Barbara. After graduation, he headed to Scripps Institution of Oceanography and obtained his Ph.D. in marine biology under David Epel in 1979. He then received a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Cell Biology in the laboratories of Drs. Bill Brinkley and Joseph Bryan at Baylor College of Medicine where he laid the foundation for his observations of abnormalities in cell structures. In 1982, Perry joined the faculty of Case Western Reserve University, where he currently holds an adjunct appointment. He is distinguished as one of the top Alzheimer’s disease researchers with over 900 publications, one of the top 100 most-cited scientists in neuroscience and behavior and one of the top 25 scientists in free radical research. Perry has been cited over 38,000 times and is recognized as a Thompson-Reuters highly cited researcher. Perry is editor for numerous journals and is editor-in-chief for the Journal of Alzheimer\\\\\\\'s Disease. He is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences, the Microscopy Society of America, and past-president of the American Association of Neuropathologists, as well as a member of the Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives. Perry is recognized internationally for his work. He is a Foreign Correspondent Member of the Spanish Royal Academy of Sciences, the Academy of Science Lisbon, and a Foreign Member of the Mexican National Academy of Sciences. He is also a recent recipient of the National Plaque of Honor from the Republic of Panama Ministry of Science and Technology. Perry\\\\\\\'s research is primarily focused on how Alzheimer disease develops and the physiological consequences of the disease at a cellular level. He is currently working to determine the sequence of events leading to damage caused by and the source of increased oxygen radicals along with mechanisms to provide more effective treatment.     Badal Saha is a Lead Scientist, Fermentation Biotechnology Research Unit, National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research, USDA-ARS, Peoria, IL. He was previously a Research Scientist, Michigan Biotechnology Institute. Dr. Saha did post-doctoral research at the University of Maryland, College Park after earning M.S. (1981) and Ph.D. (1984) in Microbial Technology from Kyushu University, Japan. He obtained his B.Sc. (Hons) and M. Sc. Degrees in Biochemistry from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh and a Postgraduate Diploma in Microbiology and Biotechnology from Osaka University, Japan. Dr. Saha has over 30 years of research experience in aerobic and anaerobic fermentation technology, and industrial enzymology. He has authored over 150 research publications that include book chapters, review articles and 6 patents, and has given over 90 meeting presentations and 45 invited seminars. Dr. Saha has edited 4 books, organized/chaired 29 symposiums/sessions at national and international meetings and served in the Scientific Advisory Committee of a number of international meetings.     Ashraf El-Sayed was born in Zagazig, Egypt 1978, studied microbiological sciences at Faculty of Science, Zagazig University. I graduated in 2001, obtained M.Sc. in 2005 and Ph. D in 2008 from Zagazig University. My Ph. D thesis was focused on production and characterization of L-asparaginase and L-glutaminase as common antileukemic agents from Aspergillus sp. and Penicillium sp. I was a postdoctoral researcher at Applied Biology Department, Kyoto Institute of Technology, Japan, working on production of gamma glutamyl dimmer compounds as thermostable analogues to the corresponding amino acids that are valuable in food industries. Currently I am associate professor of applied mycology, my work project focused on production and characterization of fungal L-methioninase under different fermentation conditions. Production of methanethiol, with various nanotechnological and industrial applications by immobilized L-methioninase. PEGylation and crystallization of fungal L-methioninase comparing to the reference therapeutic enzyme, for the maximum exploitation of this enzyme as therapeutic agents against various types of tumor cell lines.     Rachel Roper, Ph.D is Associate Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at East Carolina University in the Brody School of Medicine. Dr. Roper received her M.Sc. in 1990 and her Ph.D in 1992 from the University of Rochester, School of Medicine and Dentistry where she worked on antigen presenting cell regulation of lymphocyte activation, cell signaling and class switching and received the M.A. Hare Research Excellence Award. She received her post-doctoral training in virology with Dr. Bernard Moss at the National Institutes of Health, and was awarded an NIH Fellows Award for Research Excellence in 1997.  In 1999, she was appointed Director of Immunology and Virology for a BC veterinary vaccine company, and in 2001, she became an Adjunct Assistant Professor in Biochemistry & Microbiology at the University of Victoria.     Dr. Day-Yu Chao received her Ph.D. degree in infectious disease epidemiology from National Taiwan University (1999-2003) and had received the postdoctoral training in the laboratory of both US-CDC under the mentoring of Dr. Gwong-Jeng J. Chang (2003-2005) and Academia Sinica in Taiwan under the mentoring of Dr. Wen Chang (2006-2007). Her primary field is molecular epidemiology with research emphasis on virology, vaccinology and zoonosis, particularly in the understanding of dengue virus and influenza virus.
