Schistosomiasis is a chronic and parasitic disease. It is caused by blood flukes of the genus Schistosoma. Schistosomiasis can be of intestinal and urogenital type. It is very common in poor communities that do not have access to safe drinking water and adequate sanitation. People at highest risk for this disease are the ones those are in constant contact with infested water.
