Selcuk University, which began education in 1975 with 2 faculties, 7 departments, 32 students and two permanent staff members, is ranked among the largest universities in Turkey today with 21 faculties, 22 vocational schools, 6 schools, 27 application and research centers, 9.519 graduate, 38.115 undergraduate, 26.178 two-year degree, totally 73.812 students., 2700 academic, 1241 administrative personnel and a total population of 80 thousand. With a population of about 80 thousand people, including academic staff, administrative personnel and students, Selçuk University, according to the figures released by the Turkish Statistics Institute, is larger than 10 provincial centers and, according to the international publications data released by the Higher Education Council (HEC), ranks in the first 8 in Turkey. According to 2013 Scopus data of Scimago Institute, one of the well known world universities ranking institutions, our university is ranked in the top 8 universities in our country and 678th in world&39s ranking. Since its foundation in 1975, a total of 800.000 square meters covered space has been constructed in our university and a large part of its physical infrastructure has been completed during its history of 37 years. We are a university that is larger than 30 provincial centers according to the figures released by the Statistics Institute of Turkey by virtue of our academic and administrative staff and students that reach about 75 thousand. Moreover, Selcuk University, which ranked 17th in Higher Education Council&rsquos international publications ranking in 2003, rose to the 9th place in 2009 and according to the figures of 2010, it ranked 8th. The ranking belonging to the year 2011 has not been released by HEC yet. Information containing further detail indicating the university&rsquos present level can be given but briefly it can be said that Selcuk University is a university that has attained a trend of development and change in all fields and is an effective, productive and dynamic university in scientific, social, economic, cultural and sports areas.
