The University of Rennes 1 is one of the two main universities in the city of Rennes, France. It is under the Academy of Rennes. It specializes in science, technology, law, economy, management and philosophy. The University of Rennes 1 has been in existence since 1969, but its heritage stems back to the days of the Breton university founded in 1461. There are currently about 26,000 students enrolled, with about 1,800 members of teaching staff and 1,700 other staff members employed by the university. University de Rennes 1 has over 155 international bilateral partnerships covering research and training. These partnerships offer mobility opportunities and cross-fertilisation. The ongoing development of international courses and scientific collaborations has enabled us to reach outstanding results: on a teaching level, we offer degrees taught exclusively in English (11 masters degrees), double degrees with international partners and off-campus training sessions, and our scientific collaborations include 15 International Associated Laboratories (LIAs) and International Research Groups (GDRIs) in conjunction with the National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) or the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM). Numerous incoming and outgoing students, lecturers and researchers from all over the world, in addition to our commitment to increase mobility for non-teaching staff, characterise the global network of University de Rennes 1.
