University of Reading

The University of Reading is a public research university in Reading, Berkshire, United Kingdom. The university was recognized in 1892 as University College, Reading and acknowledged its Royal Charter in 1926. It is based on numerous campuses in, and about, the town of Reading. The university has a long ritual of research, education and training at a local, national and international level. It offers outdated degrees together with less usual and other vocationally appropriate ones. It was awarded the Queens Anniversary Prize for Higher and Auxiliary Education in 1998, 2005, 2009, and again in 2011. It is one of the ten most research intensive universities in the UK and ranked in the top 1% of universities in the world by THE. The university maintains over 395 acres of grounds, in three different campuses. Reading University upholds four museums, a main campus library, a range of inter-departmental libraries, and a botanical garden. The largest and best known of these museums is the Museum of English Rural Life, which has newly transferred from a location on White knights Campus to a site nearer the town Centre on the London Road Campus. The Ure Museum of Greek Archaeology, the Cole Museum of Zoology, the University of Reading Herbarium and the Harris Garden are all on the White knights Campus.
