University of Piemonte Orientale

The University of Eastern Piedmont Amedeo Avogadro (Italian: Università degli Studi Del Piemonte Orientale “Amedeo Avogadro”, UNIPMN or UPO) is a university located in Alessandria, Novara and Vercelli, Italy. It was founded in 1998 and is organized in 7 faculties. Before 1998 the seven faculties were part of the University of Turin. The University of Eastern Piedmont "Amedeo Avogadro" was born in 1998. The name "Piemonte Orientale" refers to a territory and not to an urban center and reflects the equal dignity accorded to three locations in which the University is divided, with a single-pole structure in Italy. The dedication of the illustrious scientist Quaregna was due not only to its fame all over the world, certainly the need to add a unifying characterization in name also, to a university that was born out of three different provinces. The training at the University of Piemonte Orientale therefore takes place at a rather large territory, unfolds in three cities - Alessandria, Novara and Vercelli - Faculty of institutional settings and in other training centers: Alba-Bra, Asti, Biella, Casale Monferrato and Verbania.
