The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (UNNC) was the first Sino-foreign university established in 2004, with the full approval of the Chinese Ministry of Education. Its Motto is "A City is built on Wisdom". It is run by The University of Nottingham (UK) with cooperation from Zhejiangs Wanli Education Group. The University is led by Professor Fujia Yang, former Chancellor of The University of Nottingham, Professor David Greenaway (economist), Vice-Chancellor of The University of Nottingham and Professor Chris Rudd, Provost of The University of Nottingham Ningbo China and Pro-Vice Chancellor of The University of Nottingham UK. Chris Rudd succeeded the previous Provost, Professor Nick Miles OBE in August 2015. Miles was recognised in the Queens 2013 Birthday Honours list where he was appointed an OBE for his work in furthering UK/China educational interests. There are 5628 students, 4962 undergraduates and 666 postgraduates taking more than 400 exchange programmes.
