The University of Foggia was founded in the year 1991 and acquired its present status and title in the year 1999. It was organized in 5 faculties namely Agriculture, Economics, Law, Letters and philosophy and faculty of medicine and surgery. The department of agriculture was considered as large department among all the departments. It was mainly a state supported university. Currently it has 11,000 students. It was located in Foggia, Italy. The university had agreement with 20 foreign universities to accommodate international students. The university participates in the international programmes such as Socrates/Erasmus, Leonardo and Tempus Meda programmes. It has been elected as the best universities in the southern Italy by newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore.
