The University Libre de Bruxelles is a French speaking private research university established in 1834 in Brussels, Belgium. It is located in the heart of Europe; it is a multidisciplinary university with high expertise researchers and top research with four scientific Nobel prizes with tradition of excellence. University is famous for its quality of teaching and opens to the diversity of languages and cultures. Brussels has two universities whose names mean Free University of Brussels in English: the French-speaking Université libre de Bruxelles and the Dutch-speaking Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). The Free University of Brussels is committed to training its students in responsible citizenship, moving from teaching to learning and preparing them throughout life for a world in constant flux. The university comprises of three campuses the Campus de la Plaine with faculties such as the faculty of pharmacy in Ixelles, the Campus du Solbosch, and the main and largest campus of the university, on the territories of Brussels and Ixelles and the Campus Erasme (faculty of medicine) in Anderlecht beside the Erasmus Hospital. The annual research budget at ULB is around € 160 million, coming from around 75% of international and federal research contracts and agreements, as well as sponsorship from various Foundations. The Free University of Brussels is emerging as a doctoral training university. Each year, it welcomes between 1600 and 1800 doctoral students, among whom more than 40% of foreign doctoral students. The university stands out in the humanistic production of knowledge, free and disinterested research. It also heavily involved in economic, social and cultural development. ULB surrently having 121 active technologies in which 86 are protected by patent, 65 valued technologies and 51 off-spins created in which 40 are active. Recently, 10th cooperation day held in the university on 14th March 2017, University has done partnership with Solvay Brussels School and Georgetown University and Chair "Turkey": two researchers funded by a postdoctoral fellowship. It encourages the development of joint masters and the development of co-tutelles of theses with Belgian and foreign universities. University motto is “Conquering darkness with knowledge”.
