Trans-disciplinary University The Trans-disciplinary University (TDU) is one of the leading universities in India that were evolved during the recent times. The university was established and being run by private organizations. The university gained fame gradually as an innovation oriented University, and the fame is even supported always by the great innovations that were carried by the university. The university is proposed, legislated and declared to be established by Karnataka Legislative Assembly (as per Karnataka Act No 35 of 2013). The university is proposed to be an autonomous University. The Foundation for Revitalization of Local Health Traditions (FRLHT) Trust is the foundation that lies behind the foundation of the university. The university is generally told to be emerged from the great work of the trust that lasted for 22 years. The university since the foundation itself is declared as a disciplinary university. In contrary to the conventional universities, the university focuses mostly on the translation of knowledge for societal change in addition to the usual research and education.
The university could be divided into few schools. These include The School of Conservation of Natural Resources (SCNR), The School of Health Sciences (SHS) and The School of Life Sciences (SLS). The schools promote research, education and they continuously strive towards the promotion of researches on the naturally available resources. The researches related to the conservation of medicinal flora, fauna, metals and minerals are continuously carried within the university. Many institutes collectively work to constitute these research centers. These can be listed as The Conservation Group (CNR); Indian System of Medicine Informatics and Theoretical Foundation Group (CII); Repository of Medical Resources (RMR); Herbal Gardening and Landscaping Services (HGL) that fall under the (SCNR). The (SHS) is being constituted by Clinical Research Group; Local Health Traditions Group; Ethno-veterinary Group and Health Education Group. The (SLS) is a deliberate unit operating individually on the very basic aspects of research that contribute to the natural resource based medicine innovation.
The university being one of the greatest universities of Indian nation is attracting the attention of scientific researchers, investigators & investors globally. National Centre for Biological Sciences remains as a major research partner for the university since many years. Along with the institute the university possesses associations with a total of 9 major research centers that were well recognized globally. The university on total is supported by 3 major research schools, 9 internal research institutes and 9 major external research partners. The university is supported by 18 staff members who constitute only the teaching staff of the university. Besides the university is supported & funded for the researches by 8 organizations within the country and 8 International organizations.

The programs that were being currently carried on in the university include Ethno Veterinary Program (EVP) – by School of Conservation of Natural Resources (SCNR); Rasayana Research: Treatment of Anemia by using Rasayana; Mode of action of Medhyarasaya, Ayurvedic cognative enhancers – being carried by School of Life Sciences (SLS). Besides, these, Abhava-Pratinidhi Dravya: Understanding the concept behind traditional drug substitution is a prestigious research program that is being dealt by the School of Life Sciences currently.
