The university was authorized in 1981 and founded by the Kowoon Foundation in 1977 with over all nine departments. The sister university of University of Suwon is Suwon Science College which was founded in the same year. USWs main mottos is thrift, justice and originality are derived from the educational ideology Dangun. Dangun was the founding father of Korea and called as Hongik’ (which means devotion to the welfare of mankind). From 1990 to present there are Sisterhood Relationship Agreement set up with so many countries like in 1990 there was Sisterhood Relationship Agreement set up with the Fashion Institute of Design, Merchandising, U.S.A and in 2000 there was Sisterhood Relationship Agreement set up with Multimedia University, Malaysia and present there is Sisterhood Relationship Agreement set up with Xingtai University, China. The present president for the University of Suwon is In Soo Lee. It has been taken almost 30 years to establish such a world class university in this age of globalization. The establishment and success of this university is due to great efforts of best faculty and good infrastructure and creative specialized educational programs. The University of Suwon is located in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. The lay out of the campus in general is appealing with Library which is divided into two main areas the study area and the research area. The whole collections from 1993 have been added to the database and can be easily accessed with the internet source. Dormitory which can accommodate 900 students. The University of Suwon Provides Health Services like health care, medical treatment, environmental hygiene, and health education to keep the campus healthy. At present as of July 2013 the total Academic Units include 10 Undergraduate Programs with eight divisions and forty six departments and the first graduate school was opened in 1986, 09 Graduate Programs and the total Students are founded to be Total 12,415 among which Undergraduate students of 11,437and remaining were Graduate students of 978 and the total Faculty is 938 among which 368 were Full-time and 570 was Part-time. The number of academic faculty staff in total 495 and international faculty about 66, whereas the total percentage of postgraduate students is about 7% and 93% of undergraduate students.
