The university is strong in its academic researches and well equipped with research facilities. The research outputs of SCAU have been increasing steadily over the years. Since the tenth “Five-year Plan”, SCAU has won 114 research and technology awards at provincial/ministerial level or above, with 77 first or second prizes. The university has applied for 499 patents (412 patents for inventions), and has been granted 198 of them (123 for inventions). The university has also been granted 14 New Plant Variety Rights, accounting for 35% of the total number to be granted until 2020 forGuangdongProvince. 73 new plant and animal varieties by the university have passed required review precedures. Researchers and teachers of SCAU have published 10,243 academic papers, including 774 indexed by SCI.
