Founded in 1826, Conservatoire Royal de Liège (Royal Conservatory of Liege) is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the small city of Liège (population range of 250,000-499,999 inhabitants), Liege. Officially accredited/recognized by the Direction générale de lEnseignement non obligatoire et de la Recherche scientifique, Belgique (Directorate General for Non-Compulsory Education and Scientific Research), Conservatoire Royal de Liège (CRLg) is a very small (enrollment range: 250-499 students) coeducational higher education institution. The Royal Conservatoire of Liège (RCL) (Dutch Koninklijk Conservatorium Luik, French Conservatoire royal de Liège) is one of four conservatories in the French Community of Belgium that offers higher education courses in music and theatre. Located at 29 Piercot Forgeur in the city of Liège, the schools principal building was built in 1887 using a neoclassical design by architects Louis Boonen and Laurent Demany. Inside the building is a large concert hall, the Salle philharmonique de Liège, which has recently been entirely renovated. The hall is the major performance venue for the Orchestre Philharmonique de Liège. The world rank for Royal Conservatory of Liege is 8981 and the coumtry rank is 56.
