Rivers State University was established in 1980 by the Rivers State College of science and technology. Rivers State University is the first technological university and first owned state university of Nigeria. The university is ranked as 12 among 80 universities of Nigeria. The university is handling seven faculties like Agriculture, engineering, environmental sciences, law, management sciences, science and technical & science education. The university is having 5 institutes and 3 centers. The university runs 37 programmes at graduate level and 86 at post graduate level. The Rivers State University main aim is to produce scientific and technical manpower, produce technical & science teaching programmes.
