Prince Sultan Aviation Academy (PSAA) is a college for aviation sciences located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It is the official flight school of Saudi Arabian Airlines. In 1959, Saudia Pilot Training Institute was established with limited resources. The Link Trainer was introduced in early sixties. The device provided a realistic depiction of flight and this technological wonder was especially useful in teaching instrument flying. Its legacy can be seen in modern Flight Simulators. Convair CPT (Cockpit Procedure Trainer) was introduced in 1966 and B737 CPT in 1975. The CPT supported training to enhance eye/hand coordination with a simplified profile. A complete training facility was inaugurated on 12th April 1979 asFlight Operations Training Centre at Al-Kandara District. Its main purpose was to school and train Saudi Arabian Airlines staff as skilled flight operations personnel for domestic and international zones. The centre had 4 Simulators and 12 classrooms. Flight crew ground training. The Departments are Flight safety training, Crew Skills Development (CSD), Aviation support services training, Technical services, Flight operations performance engineering, Flight operations manuals & publications, Flight crew training plans, Basic flight training, Cockpit Crew: Captains, First Officers, Flight Engineers, Cabin Crew: In-Flight Supervisors, Pursers, Flight Attendants, Ground Personnel: Flight Dispatchers, Flight Ops. Officers, Crew Schedulers, Operations Planners. Delivers Human Factor training programs by enhancing critical safety performances. Places all customers at the highest levels of safety, by continually investing in quality training to increase situational awareness, proficiency and prepare them to react correctly, with timely decision making processes, using effective communication in both routine and unanticipated events, also focus on their soft skill requirements and needs. Assists all crew-members to prevent aircraft incidents and accidents from occurring due to human errors. Identifies potential existing threats, develop and implement thorough training courses to avoid and mitigate human errors and work towards improving morale and enhancing the safety and efficiency of all operations. Flight Training where the trainee pilot utilizes aircraft operating systems, the technical and the Human Factor skills are combined. trainee pilot must coordinate all activities with other flight deck crew members until the entire crew performs as one trained team. CRM principles are emphasized all the time to ensure safety measures during flight. Flight Deck Crew learns Aircraft Systems, Company Policy and Procedures, as well as Planning & Performance for all types of aircraft. During training the crew makes use of CBT, FTD, IPT, and FMST to learn Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in all situations and within the required limits and regulations. It prepares flight crew for emergency situations by teaching First Aid and the location and operation of aircraft emergency equipment. In addition to video demonstrations and classroom lectures, crewmembers actually rehearse emergency drills using Door Trainers & Emergency Evacuation to get complete understanding of the procedures.
