Our School is the first university department of nursing in Hong Kong. It was firstly established in 1991 as the Department of Nursing under the Faculty of Medicine, and renamed in 2002 as The Nethersole School of Nursing in appreciation for the generous support of the Nethersole Endowment Fund. The mission of the School is to excel in teaching and research and in the promotion of the highest standards of nursing practice. Over the past twenty years, we have well demonstrated our strong commitment and success in facilitating our students to pursue their professional and career goals, and in preparing nurse leaders to shape the future of nursing and promote healthcare development in a challenging and evolving environment. As a leading nursing institution in Hong Kong, the Schools excellence in delivering world-class education at both postgraduate and undergraduate levels is locally and globally recognized. We offer a full range of unique and innovative programmes which include two bachelors, two masters, one doctoral, one MPhil-PhD and one professional diploma programmes to meet the professional development needs of nurses in Hong Kong. Our PhD programme is the first nursing programme in the territory which has admitted students through the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme. Up to August 2014, we have three PhD students admitting through this scheme and we expect to have more in the future. Our flagship programme, Bachelor of Nursing, continues to be the largest programme of its kind in Hong Kong. Its average admission GPA has remained the highest among all the local undergraduate nursing programmes since 1995.
