The Melaka Manipal Medical College (MMMC) was the first Indo-Malaysian joint venture in private medical education and was set up with the aim of providing access to world-class medical education to Malaysian students.
The Melaka Manipal Medical College (MMMC) was begun in September 1997. The institute is a joint venture between JVMC Corporation Sdn. Bhd. and Manipal Education & Medical Group. MMMC is unique for its twinning programme according to which, the programme envisages a two and a half year preclinical training course in Manipal, followed by two and a half years of clinical training in Malaysia. In July 2003, the government of Malaysia and Malaysian Medical Council recognised the MBBS degree of Melaka Manipal Medical College (MMMC), which is conferred by Manipal University, Manipal, India. It has won the following recognitions:
MBBS program accredited by Malaysian Joint Accreditation Committee and the Malaysian Medical Council Listed in WHO and International Medical Education Directory (IMED) as a recognised medical college The library facilities include Medline, Proquest medical library of online databases, audio-visual, Cochrane library, e-learning, computer and Internet services. The Skills Lab and Anatomy Museum are considered amongst the best in the world.
The latest addition to the facilities, a Simulation Lab with computer driven mannequins, is an achievement, which the university is proud of. It is of considerable help to students in the field of health care. Manipal University believes in providing the finest in infrastructure and facilities to its students when it comes to learning and research. In fact some of the facilities, like the Innovation Centre, have served as a valuable ‘incubation centre’ for industry and research. The state-of-the art innovation centre bridges the gap between university and industries for industrial academic research.
