Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis was established in 1957 as a research institute in the field of organic chemistry, molecular biology and bioorganic chemistry. To cope up with the financial problem, they do different research projects which are in contract with Latvian and foreign pharmaceutical companies. Thus they do the project work in partnership with them. Currently it is having 11 pharmaceutical companies as stable partners. From the past 50 years this institute along with its partner has filed 250 patents. Latvian Institute of Organic Synthesis has 312 employees out of which 180 researchers , 9 Latvian Academy of Sciences, 16 habilitated doctors and 90 doctors of science are there who believe in respecting the best traditions of the Institute and to all levels of students in-depth training , combined with the creation of new drugs.
