Established in 1984, Jingchu University of Technology is a public higher education institution located in the medium-sized city of Jingmen (population range of 500,000-1,000,000 inhabitants), Hubei. Officially accredited/recognized by the Department of Education, Hubei Province, Jingchu University of Technology is a large (enrollment range: 10,000-14,999 students) coeducational higher education institution. Jingchu University of Technology offers courses and programs leading to officialy recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. Jingchu University of Technology also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, as well as administrative services. Jingchu University of Technology is a regular provincial public institution of higher learning for undergraduate-level students, based on the merger of Jinmen Polytechnic and ShayangTeachers College, authorized by the Ministry of Education.
Academic Campus:
JUT is situated in the midtown of Jingmen, Hubei, a city famous for long cultural history and dubbed gateway to Hubei. The campus covers an area of 2100 mu (140 hectares), with school premises of 580,000 square meters. Surrounded by nice mountains and river, the campus enjoys an awesome environment with perfect layout, a full range of functions, advanced facilities and beautiful landscape. JUT keeps the effort in deepening of teaching reform, optimization of the course structure, and exploration for talent raising models and practice, having developed many courses with unique traits. Over the years, by beefing up its force and developing advantageous disciplines, JUT has made contribution to development of some disciplines and research bases with distinct traits, beefed up industrial, academic and research cooperation, and long-term friendly cooperation with leading enterprises, in Hubei or otherwise and promoted building of the faculty and improvement of their teaching skills. Many teachers were or are involved in national, provincial and municipal ad hoc researches, and have reported rich fruits in scientific research, which may be testified by many awards for outstanding achievements and registration of national patents. JUT has published over 300 books and teaching materials, and more than 20 teaching materials have been listed as teaching materials of national level for common higher education for the 11th five-year plan, and more than 10 courses have been chosen as provincial select courses, and more than 20 provincial awards have been obtained for the teaching results.
Statistics:
JUT has 14 teaching institutes (departments) and 1 affiliated hospital, in addition to the School of International Education and Continuing Education College. 20 undergraduate courses and 33 diploma courses are offered, covering 7 categories of disciplines: science, engineering, education, medicine, literature, economy and management. Over 18000 full-time students are studying here. Currently, the size of registered faculty is 1262, including over 1000 full-time teachers, out of which, over 300 hold titles of professor or associate professor. 11 of them enjoy special allowance from the State Council and provincial government. Currently, JUT boasts teaching apparatuses and equipment worth nearly RMB 100 million yuan. It also boasts 100 training centers and labs for NC technology, printing engineering, stomatological technology, electricity & electronics, IPV6 network, clinical pathology and test, fundamental physics, music and fine art respectively, in addition to over 130 external practical & training bases. Currently, the library offers over 1.44 million paper books, 2500 paper journals, 8000 electronic journals, and over 400,000 e-books. JUT owns auto management system and rich e-literature database.
Research:
The college has built variety of laboratories, including the Number Control Technology, Printing Works, Oral Cavity Technology, Basic Physics, Electrical Electronics, IPv6 Network, Clinical Pathology Tests and other kinds of TrainingCenter, totally 99 laboratories. The total value of the teaching equipment is over 74.46 million yuan. There are 128 extracurricular internship Training Bases. The colleague library has built the automated management system (ILAS II) and 2 electronic literature databases, including 923 thousand volume of Paper book, 400 thousand kinds of E-books, 2,452 of published journals and 8,000 of electronic journals.
