Institut Kaplan

The evolution in the knowledge of the diverse pathologies that affect the hand and elbow and the increase of the complexity of the treatments which made necessary a specialization in those fields. So in 1993, a group of professionals founded Institute Kaplan with the resolution of offering the best and most advanced answer to the problems of the hand and elbow. The Institute propose to offer a personalized treatment adapted to the individual needs of each patient. This bold proposal, which could be called out of protocols, allows us to decide, together with the patient, the form of treatment that best suits in each case, to the highest standards. The adaptation of our offer has been in accordance with the evolution of society. Thus fracture treatments and dislocations of the elbow, forearm, hand and fingers, which have increased in frequency, are treated in a way that allows for a quick reincorporation Possible to normal life. Also the sequels of such injuries as pain, scarring, stiffness of joints, tendon adhesions and deviations of fingers and wrist after a fracture or lack of consolidation. One of the characteristics that distinguish the human hand from that of other animals is the ability to use utensils or instruments. Indeed, unlike most animals, in which the upper extremity can only perform a function, such as flying or swimming, the human hand is capable of a great multiplicity of functions. Aristotle a Greek philosopher said the hand is the instrument: an instrument indeed very valuable. Taking care of that instrument is our main objective. Institute Kaplan offers stays between 3-6 months for doctors who specialize in Orthopaedic Surgery and Traumatology or Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic Restoration who are interested in Surgery of the Hand. Residents of the last years may also apply for these specialties in accordance with their teaching hospitals. All this justifies and motivates the existence of our Institute to offer our patients the most advanced techniques for the treatment of their pathology.
