INRA was set up in 1946 in response to pressing demands from society to “feed France.” Today challenges such as climate change, the nutritional status of populations, the ecological equilibrium of rural areas and the competitiveness and sustainability of production are global in nature, and agriculture plays a key role in overcoming them.
