Fooyin University was founded by Dr. Chang Peng Tu in 1958 at Tungang Town, Taiwan and in 1970 moved to the Daliao campus. Being excellent in running a school on the 10th anniversary in 1968, Fooyin was again promoted from a vocational school to a five-year nursing and midwifery in order to cope with the domestic vocational education policy. In 2002 Fooyin University received approval from the Ministry of Education. University consist School of Nursing, School of Medical and Health Sciences, School of Environment and Life Sciences, and College of Humanities and Management and currently school have approximately 10,000 students. Because of Fooyin’s devotion to teaching, the subsidies of the technical school demonstration plan, and the excellent common courses and the outstanding teaching plan were granted by the Ministry of Education, which is the biggest honor among the medical schools in southern Taiwan.
The Office of Research and Development Affairs is composed of the R&D director, who is responsible for the overall affairs of the office and oversees the school’s R&D progress, as well as an R&D business team and a collaborative project team, both of which consist of a team leader and several team members who handle relevant affairs. It encourages the establishment of comprehensive ethical measures in human and animal experimentation and promotes the engagement of each department in cross-field R&D.
Fooyin University, from “the cradle of cultivating Nightingales” to “health university”, Fooyin has clear vision and values from the beginning. The core vale of “human health” fulfills the whole human education, which expects us to cultivate health technology talents with professional knowledge and human conservations. University has four major colleges and departments that are unique in mental and physical health. The school possesses the biggest nursing department and the only department of midwifery. We cultivate all levels of outstanding nurses in southern Taiwan. The diploma from Department of Applied Chemistry and Material Sciences is approved by 17-country members all over Europe, USA, and Canada.
