It is one of the largest educational groups in North India, established under the flagship of President- S. Nirmal Singh Rayat and Chairman- S. Gurvinder Singh Bahra. Since its inception, the group has pioneered in the field of technical education. With its first Engineering College established in 2001 at Railmajra, Distt. Nawanshahr, it has prolifically grown since then to fifty five technical institutes encompassing Engineering, Management, Education, Pharmacy, Sciences, Law, Hotel Management, Nursing and Dental Colleges as well as two renowned universities. In addition, it also runs an international school at Railmajra and four PSEB schools. The group has spread its wings across several North Indian states of Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh and operates two international campuses in the UK and the USA. To establish knowledge, creation and learning university to generate value based competent professionals and globally competitive human capital comparable with the best in the world, through research driven multi-disciplinary & inter disciplinary approach, continuous learning, societal responsiveness and strategic partnership with the industry while being locally and globally responsive.
The report of Radhakrishnan made an important recommendation as early as in 1948 for the appointment of Dean Students Welfare for coordinating student services in all Indian Universities. Subsequently the Education Commission in 1960 also recommended that Universities should appoint Dean Students Welfare and accordingly University Grants Commission desired from all Universities to establish office of Dean Students Welfare in their University. Youth programs are regularly organized with pervasive good will and cheer to project existential urges of our students. These also promote competition in cultural fields. There are inter-university cultural activities which are organized and supported by this office. These attract highly talented and acclaimed participants besides appreciative audiences. This office also organizes debates, symposia and quiz competitions on current issues in which students of all shades participate. This office also coordinates with Department of Sports of the University and organizes youth programs and other activities conducive to the promotion of health of our students. So as to encourage them to participate in such activities, Sports and cultural scholarships are also awarded every year. Rayat Bahra University came into existence in 2014 as a comprehensive university based on new educational concepts. It is the heart of the Rayat Bahra Group of Institutes (RBGI) and it is not only a dream come true for me personally, but also marks another major step in transformation of the educational system by training the youths, who are future of our nation.
