American University of Sharjah (AUS) is a co-educational institution of higher education in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It was founded in 1997 by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. As a provider of quality higher education in the Gulf, AUS is licensed and its programs are accredited by the Commission for Academic Accreditation of the Ministry of Educations Higher Education Affairs Division in the United Arab Emirates. AUS is also accredited in the United States of America by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education. AUS is a member of AAICU (Association of American International Colleges and Universities), a leadership organization of American international universities, whose members provide responsible delivery and quality assurance of American higher education outside the United States. AUC offers 26 majors and 45 minors at the undergraduate level, and 13 masters degrees programs through the following academic divisions: • College of Architecture, Art and Design • College of Arts and Sciences • College of Engineering • School of Business Administration AUS supports and promotes the research and consulting activities of its faculty members. In addition, AUS offers its students opportunities to work on faculty research projects, to present papers with faculty at international conferences and to assist faculty in developing research grants.
