Upcoming Special Issue Title: Recent Advances in Bio-inspired Coatings. Handling Editor: Peter Wilson Associate Dean (Global Engagement, University of Tasmania, Australia We are going to release Special Issue so authors are invited to particpate in this Special Issue and the title is "Recent Advances in Bio-inspired Coatings". Submissions accepted upto: April 25, 2018 We are going to release this Special Issue in May, 2018 Bioinspired omniphobic surface coating: Thrombosis and biofouling of extracorporeal circuits and indwelling medical devices cause significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. a bioinspired, omniphobic coating is applied to the tubing and catheters and show that it completely repels blood and suppresses biofilm formation. The coating is a covalently tethered, flexible molecular layer of perfluorocarbon, which holds a thin liquid film of medical-grade perfluorocarbon on the surface. This surface-coating technology can reduce the use of anticoagulants in patients and help to prevent thrombotic occlusion and biofouling of medical devices.
