Mineralogical Society of Great Britain and Ireland is working in the field of mineral sciences at international level.
It is established in 1876.
The aim of the society is advancing the knowledge of the science of mineralogy and its application to other subjects along with crystallography, geochemistry, petrology, environmental science and geology.
More specifically, the Society does the following:
It Publishes scientific journals, books and monographs, supports and holds scientific meetings.
It collaborates with other Societies with similar objects such as the International Mineralogical Association, Mineralogical Union in Europe, American Mineralogical society, Canadian Mineralogical Society and the Geological Society of London.

It maintains an active website allowing access to information on mineralogy and on-line journals
