Physician Insurers Association of America

PIAA is established in the year 1977 to create a forum for exchanging information and solving problems. PIAA pledged to provide insurance protection and minimize the problems between physician colleagues. They gained new strategy from their physicians and insurance professionals to face the medical professional challenges. For medical market, it acts as an advocate to make it affordable. Now the PIAA was in the excellent position to promote the high-quality and safe medicine practices. It is the insurance industry trade association that insures every self-doing business in the medical professional liability (MPL) platform.  In the starting phase of PIAA, it insures only physicians. But now it insures other health care practitioners from many companies. Around 400,000 doctors and other practitioners from some countries such as UK, Canada, Australia, etc. were insured by PIAA. The PIAA established the PIAA Education and Research Foundation to provide funds towards specific research projects of PIAA member companies and also to serve the general public from the year 2002. These projects focus on the root causes of medical injury and education for physicians, hospitals and public to increase the quality of the healthcare system by reducing the incidence of medical injury. The PIAA is accredited for Continuing Medical Education (CME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Physicians should claim the credit when the participation activity extent during meetings. PIAA’s workshops and meetings explore a wide range of topics to improve the knowledge of PIAA and MPL professionals in discovering new ideas to learn about the advanced medical technology and better way of doing business.
