Our members are devoted to discovering and grow medicines that enable patients to live longer, healthier and more productive lives. New medicines are an integral part of the health care system, understanding that doctors and patients with safe and effective treatment options, and improving quality of life. PhRMA was formed in 1958 to represent America’s biopharmaceutical research companies and help support smart public policy that supports medical research to address patient needs. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., with offices in most important biopharmaceutical research communities, PhRMA advocates in the United States and around the world for policies that support the action and development of innovative medicines. Our policy priorities include: explaining the increased complexity and chance of the research and development process; reinforcing the need for investment in R&D; ensuring broad access to and suitable use of medicines; and emphasizing the importance of strong intellectual property incentives for new medicines.
