The P-47 Thunderbolt Pilots Association was made up by people in 1956, which flew the plane prior, when it was removed from Air Force administration. The P-47 Thunderbolt Pilots Association was separate in 2006. The association was established after Republic Aircraft, who fabricated the P-47s, facilitated a reunion for 873 pilots in May, 1961 to commend the 20th commemoration of the first Thunderbolt flight in May, 1941. P47Pilots.com is committed to preserving the collections in the memory of the men and women who flew the P-47 Thunderbolt "jug" in World War II. P47Pilots.com has developed throughout the years from a basic brochure site to a dynamic and rich asset of stories, data, and cooperation. P47Pilots.com is a living remembrance which will keep on growing for long time to come. The motivation behind the association was to revere and propagate the memory of the P-47 and its pilots. It served to proceed with the comradeship of the pilots who flew the Thunderbolt, the best aircraft of World War II. The Association distributed a Jug letter quarterly and held a yearly reunion in an alternate city in the U.S.A. Reunions have additionally been held in London and twice in Paris.
