The Indian Pharmaceutical Association (IPA) is the one of the oldest association of pharmaceutical professionals in India comprising of around 13,000 members spread across the country. IPA has around 20 state branches and more than 45 local branches which help in conducting its operations. The members of IPA are from different sectors of pharmaceutical profession such as industry, regulatory, community and hospital pharmacy practices and education. Being an active member of the Drug Technical Advisory Board, India, IPA recommends the government on matters of professional importance. IPA is affiliated with several international pharmaceutical associations like FIP, FAPA, CPA, AAPS, AAiPS, IPSF and is also collaborated with various international bodies such as WHO and WHPA for conducting several professional activities such as organizing training programmes for professionals from industry, academics, regulatory and practice. IPA is actively involved in lifting up the standards of pharmacy professional services offered by the pharmacists. IPA’s major objective is to highlight the importance of the pharmacists as one of the important healthcare providers in our country. IPA helps in strongly promoting the highest professional and ethical standards of pharmacy and lay stress on the reputation of pharmacists as competent healthcare professionals, sensitizes the community, government and others on vital professional issues and support pharmaceutical education and sciences in all aspects. The main aim of the IPA is to actively encourage the members who are being trained to deliver suitable education and to prepare them for the profession of pharmacy and to promote the sciences and arts of Pharmacy in all aspects. IPA helps in promoting scientific and technical research, experiments and tests of all kinds performed in pharmaceutical and allied sciences. IPA is also responsible to edit and publish, journals, books, magazines, documents and other publications for promoting the causes of the profession of Pharmacy. IPA conducts seminars, symposia, conferences and exhibitions for promoting the causes of profession of Pharmacy.
