The "old" EUPSA was a general public in which all European Pediatric Associations were spoken to.
The full name was: EUropean Pediatric Surgeons Associations.
In 2002 Prof. Michael Höllwarth from Graz was chosen as President of the "old" EUPSA.
He proposed the establishment of another EUPSA in which individual Pediatric Surgeons would be the individuals, keeping the acronym which now implies EUropean Pediatric Surgeons' Association
On the event of the fifth European Congress in Tours in 2003 the new EUPSA was constituted.
From that point forward EUPSA has turned into the biggest Pediatric Surgical Organization worldwide with more than 800 individuals from more than 50 nations
