The Boxted Airfield Historical Group based in Colchester Essex was formed in the year of 2000 by Richard Turner. Richard Turner has researched the history of Boxted airfield since 1995 and has staged exhibitions with the material collected since 1999. He got lot of local interest from enthusiasts and so he decided establish a organization. After a meeting with several enthusiasts, the first committee was formed in February 2000. Its membership now stands at 135 members worldwide, including American servicemen and airfield veterans and RAF personnel, who were based at Boxted. The group conducts regular meetings with guest speakers. The group also organizes coach trips and outings to various museums, events.
