The Objective of the Autism Society of Japan is to advance the welfare of autistic persons by supporting and upbringing the concerned people as well as promoting the good understanding of autism on the part of general public. About the board of directors and Counselors: the society consists of 25 directors and 46 counselors. The society has a membership of 6500 individuals and associate members, 7 organizations and 111 individuals. The scope of activities promoted by the society includes counseling, research and study, and publication. The main activities of the society include: Counseling for autistic persons, Seminars and lectures on medicine, education, welfare, employment, etc., Research/study, collection of information, Subsidization and citation of professionals, volunteers, teachers, and Publication of bulletin and booklets. The society also published a book named Guidebook of Autism (in Japanese). The cooperating societies overseas are The National Autistic Society (Secretariat of the International Autism Societies) (H.Q. - London, G.B.) Autism Societies of America, Canada, Australia, Philippines, etc.
