Association of American Medical Colleges  

 The Association of American Medical Colleges was established in the year of 1876 in Washington, District of Columbia. It is a non-profit organisation. The President and CEO of AAMC is Darrell G. Kirch. The purpose of this association is to change the health care through innovative medical education, cutting-edge patient care and ground breaking medical research. The members in AAMC are all from 145 accredited U.S. medical schools and 17 accredited Canadian medical schools. There are nearly 400 major teaching hospitals and health systems. The AAMC contains 51 departments of veterans Affairs medical centres and more than 80 academic societies. Based on these institutions and organisations, the AAMC serves the leaders of Americas medical schools and teaching hospitals and their nearly 160,000 faculty members, 83,000 medical students, and 115,00 resident physicians. The past published article of the association is held at the national library of medicine. Its archives range from 1938-1966. The AAMC plays a major role in improving the national health and public trust.
