arab society for plant protection

The Arab Society for Plant Protection was established by a group of plant protection scientists, who met in Aleppo in 1977, and officially registered in 1981 in Beirut, Lebanon and now it includes over 700 members from 17 different Arab countries in addition to other countries such as: Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, France, Germany, Greece, UK and USA. It is a non-profit professional and scholarly organization of scientists from both public and private academic institutions, as well as industry representing a great variety of scientists who are involved in the field of plant protection in the Arab World and abroad. The society promotes research, education, and extension outreach activities related to pests, provides science-based information to the public and private sectors and fosters awareness of pests and their impacts on arable and natural ecosystems. The ASPP is affiliated to the International Association for the Plant Protection Sciences (IAPPS), International Society for Plant Pathology (ISPP) and the Mediterranean Phytopathological Union (MPU). Among the important activities of the Arab Society for Plant Protection is the publishing of The Arab Journal of Plant Protection (AJPP) and The Arab and Near East Plant Protection Newsletter (ANEPPNEL), both issued twice a year. The AJPP publishes refereed scientific papers in all areas related to plant protection (pathology, nematology, entomology, acarology, weed science, rodents, pesticides and residues, pest control, etc.). Papers are mostly published in the Arabic language with Arabic and English abstracts.
