The ASCB was first organized on May 28, 1960 at a meeting in the office of Dr Keith R. Porter at Rockefeller University with the ASCB being legally incorporated in New York State on July 31, 1961. Many innovative technologies and discoveries in the fields of genetics, molecular biology, light microscopy, and biochemistry quickly amplified the field of cell biology.
