American Shoulder and Elbow Society

The ASES foundation, earlier known as the Continuing Education in Shoulder and Elbow Surgery, was established in 1984 by Dr. Near in carrying out charitable and educational functions of the ASES.  The purpose of this independent society is to engage and to support, the charitable and educational activities, causes and projects. With a Vision to have a Global Impact on the quality shoulder and elbow care, through leadership, medical education, scientific research, and patient advocacy and with a mission to support the ethical practices of evidence-based, high quality, cost-effective, shoulder and elbow care. It acts as a stimulant to research by providing a forum for presentation of new scientific advances and offering awards for special achievement. ASES is now celebrating 25 glorious years of achievements.
