American Microchemical Society is a nationwide organization was founded in 1938. is a non-profit, Technical, and educational organization with a focus upon encouraging the advancement of microchemistry. The main objective of this society was to formed a society to promote the teaching and practice of microanalysis and other associated methods. Earlier, it was also designated as the New York-New Jersey Section of the Microchemical Society, in expectation of the formation of a nationwide organization. But it failed to emerge, after that the name Metropolitan Microchemical Society was chosen in 1938 and used for years until the geographical distribution of the membership opposed the borders of the name. The American Microchemical Society was finally seen as final & more suitable and was adopted in 1963. Since then, the total membership is 160 members. With an aim of greater exposure to the industries , many courses in microtechniques were initialled all over the country at that time. . The programs were especially designed both to introduce microchemistry, microanalysis, microtechniques, and microscopy to the neophyte and new tools to the specialist. The Society also initiated a series of annual seminars from 1945-46 to further the disseminate knowledge and uses of microtechniques and to stimulate interest in microanalysis and microscopy. These programs helped in gathering eminent speakers, audiences of chemists in large numbers. Also, exhibitions were carried out by technical/equipment companies that showcased their appliances/products at the meetings. The ACS collaborated with the new York and North Jersey Analytical Groups of the American Chemical Society in 1959 for Applied Spectroscopy to form the Eastern Analytical Symposium. It promoted & has shown the advantages of greater exposure and more industrial support for future.
