Biography

Jean-Paul Joseph Gonzalez graduated from Bordeaux University Medical School, France, 1974 (MD), completes his internship in Amazonian French Guiana (Tropical Diseases), received his PhD in virology (Clermont-Ferrand University, France, 1984). He works as medical researcher for the French Institute of Research for Development, led teams from the Pasteur Institute Network, and partner country institutes (e.g.: Brazil, CAR, Gabon, Laos, Senegal, Thailand, etc.). His main research fields encompass viral disease epidemiology (emergence) and virus ecology. He joined Metabiota, Inc. as a senior staff scientist (2008) perpetuating his expertise worldwide (e.g. Cameroun, Uganda, Ukraine, Sierra Leone). He authored 300 scientific papers.
