Russia which is officially known as Russian Federation is the largest nation in the world with an area of about 66,12,130 sq.mi of area which is almost one-eighth of the Earths inhabited land area. Russia is the world's ninth most populous country in the world as per 2015 census.

Russia contains its land area expanded in the Northern part of Asia and most of the Eastern part of Europe and it shares its boundaries with countries from northwest to southeast, Russia shares land borders with Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland (both with Kaliningrad Oblast), Belarus, Ukraine, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia, and North Korea. Along with this it has maritime borders with countries like Japan by the Sea of Okhotsk and the U.S. state of Alaska across the Bering Strait.

The nation's history was studied from the East Slavs, who emerged as a recognizable group in Europe between the 3rd and 8th centuries AD. which were founded and ruled by a Varangian warrior elite and their descendants, the medieval state of Rus arose in the 9th century. Following the Russian Revolution, the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic became the largest and leading constituent of the Soviet Union abbreviated to USSR, the world's first constitutionally socialist state and a recognized world superpower, and a rival to the United States which played a decisive role in the Allied victory in World War II. The Soviet era saw some of the most significant technological achievements of the 20th century, including the world's first human-made satellite, and the first man in space.

Russia have Produced 27 Nobel lauraetes till date and Most of them are in the field of Physics, Chemistry, Physiology and Psychiatry. The Russian nation is known for many reputed Universities which has produced several experts in the field of Psychiatry, Psychology, Neurosciences, etc. Very good number of Psychiatry journals were published in the russian country both in the Russian and in English, these journals with high impact factor in Psychiatry gave a big boost to the Psychiatry research in Russia.
