Bipolar disorder, formerly known as manic depression, is a mental health condition characterized by extreme mood swings that include emotional highs (mania or hypomania) and lows (depression). These mood swings can be intense and unpredictable, significantly impacting a person's daily life, relationships, and ability to function. In this article, we delve into the intricacies of bipolar manic depression, exploring its symptoms, causes, and available treatments.
