Abstract

Understanding advance directives: a guide to end-of-life planning provides a comprehensive exploration of advance directives, essential legal documents that guide medical decision-making when individuals are unable to communicate their preferences. The paper outlines the key components of advance directives, including living wills, durable power of attorney for healthcare, and do-not-resuscitate (DNR) orders, emphasizing their role in ensuring that healthcare decisions align with an individual's values and wishes.
